Character of the Day: AGNI
AGNI is the god of fire. The Sanskrit name is related to the Latin word ignis, meaning "fire" as in the English word "ignite" or "igneous rocks." As a fire god, Agni consumes offerings made to him at the fire altar.

Ramayana: Agni protects Sita during the fire test, called Agni Pariksha. In the legend of the Maya Sita, he rescues her from being kidnapped by Ravana, replacing her with a double.
