Character of the Day: PARASHURAMA

PARASHURAMA, son of the sage Jamadagni and his wife Renuka, is considered to be an avatar of Vishnu. He is also considered to be one of the immortals, the Chiranjivi. Born a brahmin, he carried out a war against the whole kshatriya class. One of his weapons was the axe, which is why he is called Parashu-Rama, Axe-Rama.
