Comments: The stories of Sita and Promila (wife of Ravana's son Indrajit) come from the Ramayana, and the story of Shakuntala is found in the Mahabharata, and it is also the subject of a play by the classical Sanskrit poet and playwright Kalidasa. This book's author, Sunity Devee (1864–1932), was a fascinating woman in her own right, an educator and women's rights activist. You can read about her life at Wikipedia, and you can also read more here: Sunity Devee.
