Overview. Seeger. The Five Brothers.

(illustration from the book)

Title: The Five Brothers: The Story of the Mahabharata
Author: Elizabeth Seeger
Year: 1948

Comments: This is a prose retelling of the Mahabharata (based on the Ganguli translation). The author provides very helpful notes in her Introduction about her goals for this book and the editorial choices she made. Note especially her unusual decisions about names and the spelling of the names. Note also that while this book was published in 1948, its copyright status was reviewed by the University of Florida Library staff who declared it "out of copyright."

Free Online: See all the links at Freebookapalooza. The links below are to the Internet Archive version of the book.

Length: four weeks. I've divided the reading into eight parts: Part A - Part B (one week of reading), Part C - Part D (another week of reading), Part E - Part F (a third week), and Part G - Part H (final week of reading).
